Dijon Our Beloved

Dijon is an Uromastyx lizard who resides in the The Browning Science Lab. He has a club called Dijon and Friends, who takes care of him, makes ideas to help him, and make his life more comfortable. The Dijon Club is currently trying to make a new home for Dijon, and a statue and monument for Dijon. Some people are also making a scratch game for Dijon, called the Dijon Game, which is a small game revolving around Dijon exploring his home. Uromastyx lizards are primarily herbivorous, but occasionally eat insects and other small animals, especially young lizards. They spend most of their waking hours basking in the sun, hiding in underground chambers at night time or when danger appears. Dijon was home for the holidays, but just returned! Dijon is a cute lizard, who most of the time spends his days in the small log Ms. Gillman added into his encasing, however during homeroom, Ms. Gillman sometimes brings him out to show the students and lets the students hold him.

His favorite color is green because it could be from how much green lizards see in their habitat where they feel most comfortable. Dijon’s favorite food is lettuce and he loves to sleep. Dijon does need calcium as a part of his diet to maintain his nice health.

The Uromastyx lizard is a descendant of the species Megachirella Wachtleri, a 15 inch long and 240 million year old species that was the last common ancestor of all lizards and snakes. Uromastyx inhabit a range stretching through most of North and Northeast Africa, the Middle East, ranging as far east as Iran. Species found further east are now placed in the genus Saara, a sub family of the bigger sub family Uromasticinae of the family Agamidae. Uromastyx lizards can be found at elevations from sea level to well over 900 m (3,000 ft).

Surprisingly, many people in the 5th grade have been spreading rumors that Dijon has died, obviously, not true, but the cause of them thinking this is the fact that he has been out of school for almost 4 months, but Dijon is back, so our Dijon worshippers can worship Dijon more!!
