Review: Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 1
The popular game Fortnite has entered a new season and added many new skins, new characters, and new game modes.
After the Big Bang event, we have now landed on a new island with lovely structures, new weapons, and a new NPC group called the society led by powerful bosses. If you're looking for something new maybe you can try riding the train although it’s not suggested if you are trying to get good loot. The bosses however do have good loot, each one having a mythical weapon, the best type of weapon you can get.
As always for every new season we are given a new battle pass for 900 vbucks (The Fortnite currency). This new battle pass contains an upgraded version of the first character ever introduced in Fortnite, Jonesy as well as the famous TV character, Peter Griffin. For those who don't have any Vbucks there are currently 3 characters available for free, but be quick if you are interested, one of them is limited time. In addition to all of this, a gaming legend, Solid Snake is joining Fortnite as a bonus reward if you purchase the battle pass.
In addition to all these great things they have added 3 new modes to the game in addition to the already existing battle royale, ranked, and all the creative maps. These 3 modes consist of Lego Fortnite, rocket racing, and the Fornite festival, each one being very different from the original Fortnite.
First, we have Lego Fortnite, a crossover with Lego. This is a very controversial pick among players being popular because of it but also extremely hated since it’s such a different mode from the original Fortnite. I think it’s safe to say It wasnt what the people wanted. In summary, it is a survival resource-collecting game where you can create a village and explore the world.
Second, we have rocket racing. This is also a crossover with Rocket League, the infamous car soccer game created by Epic Games. Rocket racing is in between a silly car game like Mario, still having gimmicks like flying and boosting. While on the other hand, there are no weapons and items you use for different purposes like a more serious racing game.
The final uncommonly played mode is known as Fortnite Festival. It is a music/rhythm game that almost everyone dislikes because it is not really what people wanted when they asked for a new mode.
So while most of our new modes aren't the best and a great idea, the train with lots of potential was ruined but at the very least, we also got some great deals with 3 new free skins, as well as some insane battle pass choices. I have decided to give this season a generous 8.5/10.
