Intro to Color Core
The Color Core program is a new initiative that aims to foster a sense of community and friendly competition among both the middle school students and throughout the school. It is inspired by the house system in Harry Potter, where students belong to one of four houses, instead replaced by Browning's Colors: Red, Black, Silver, or White. The program was first introduced on field day last year, and it has been expanded this year with the help of the Color Core Club. The club is supported by Ms. Ryan and led by Grade 8 students Ninis Twumasi, E.J. Matejevich, Brandon Chao and Peter Parizhsky. The club is working on organizing various activities and events that involve the color teams. One of the upcoming events is the Color Core assembly on Friday, April 19.
During this assembly, the students will learn more about the Color Core program and the cores of which they are members, as well as about what to anticipate on Field Day, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1.
However, it is the hope of the MS Color Core Club that field day is not the only opportunity for the colors to show their spirit and skills. Throughout the year, the club’s members hope there will be other activities and events that will involve the color teams, such as a dress down day, a Color Core dodgeball tournament, and more. The upper school student council is working on a scoring system that will determine how each Color Core event will be counted this year. The Color Core program is designed to create a positive and supportive environment for the students, where they can have fun, make friends, and learn new things. It is also a way to celebrate the diversity and talents of our middle school community. I hope that you are excited about the Color Core program and that you will participate in it with enthusiasm and respect!
