Biodiversity Day: What to expect

The Browning Green Team is an environmental activism club that meets every Friday morning in the middle school science lab. “Green team is a k-12 club that works on making the earth a better and cleaner place.” (Ninis - Philanthropy Director) Green team is led by Noah Levinglick and Veer Malhotra.

This year Green Team is rekindling an old tradition at Browning by planning and doing a biodiversity day. “It’s the way we are trying to encourage students to become more aware of our planet and preserve our natural resources.” (Joan Gillman - Club Supervisor)

Biodiversity Day will be on Friday, May 26th. Biodiversity Day will have a plethora of activities! In the lower school, they will have seed planting, they will visit the central park zoo for a scavenger hunt, there will be a read-aloud of The Lorax, there will also be a special music class devoted to environmental songs, and poster making in the art room. For middle school here are all the activities: An escape room with Dr. Ting, biodiversity game design with Mr. Grill, poster making with Mr. Vlahos, paper animal making with Ms. Montemayor, origami with Ms. Chung, music with Mr. Beocker, a central park scavenger hunt, a biodiversity Kahoot, a rap off, and finally, we will watch the film Big Miracle in the Kurani gym. There will also be a cool lecture from John Curtis Cook, he will be speaking about conservation and green energy, specifically by using geothermal energy, he was also a browning student. Another cool fact is that his dad was the former headmaster of Browning and the cook room was named after him. “Be prepared for a fun day!” (Joan Gillman - Club Supervisor)
