Apple Wonderlust Event: How does it affect our school?

“Wonderlust” was a remarkable event that just happened and it was significant not just for us but for the climate! Apple has now finally moved all iPhones onto USB-C! This means that there is a universal plug for everything now! This is much more of an eco-friendly approach to all the cables that exist. For example, you are flying to go away on vacation. Now you only need one cable for all of your devices and friends' devices! The Apple watch is the first carbon-neutral product that they are selling and they have discontinued the collaboration with Hermès because that is leather which is not the best for the planet.

The 15 PRO models have USB-3 technology which advances them in charging further than the iPhone 15 and 15 plus. In a video by the youtuber “Mrwhosetheboss” the iPhone 15 Plus won in his battery test, with the iPhone 15 Pro having even less battery life than the base model 14.

The “Dynamic Island” is now featured on the Baseline Models, whereas it was featured on just the pro models in past Generations.

Now let's talk about iOS 17. iOS 17 has made a huge difference by adding features like Namedrop, and Standby. And you're in luck, because I'm here to cover it all!

Standby Mode

Standby mode turns your iPhone, well… into a mini phone. It does everything you need including messages, music, news, and more! And from personal experience I can say that this is one of the best features that apple has released in a long time. You feel way less distracted, you don’t feel the need to open your phone and it works great! Standby mode is activated by placing your phone in a horizontal position while charging. And it is meant to convey information quickly and simply while not taking too much battery.

Namedrop

At Browning you are going to meet a lot of new people, and if you want to stay in touch with your friends you have to get their contact information. But that takes a long time. What if your friend has a bus to catch, and you don’t have enough time to get his info, or he has an afterschool activity that he is late for? This is where Namedrop comes into play. This feature helps you get to know everyone! Namedrop is when you hold your phones next to or over one another and your contact info will be shared. Plus, you can use it to quickly airdrop things. This creates a wireless wifi connection by using the NFC chips in your phones. The NFC chip is what allows you to use Apple Pay on your iPhone and tap on credit cards.

Contact Posters!!

This is, in my opinion, the BEST feature of IOS 17. This feature for the first time allows you to further customize contacts by adding contact posters, and images that span the whole page of the contact when they are calling you, which can have different fonts, and so on. For the first time, Apple has gotten on the same level of customizability as Android! Android has had these features for multiple years already. This new feature has been great and makes the iPhone overall visually 10x better!
